报告内容:

Fatigue fracture is one of the major causes of failure in engineering materials and structural components subjected to repeated service loading. This lecture will focus on numerical simulation methods for fatigue fracture, with particular emphasis on damage accumulation, fatigue crack initiation, crack growth, and life prediction under different cyclic loading regimes. Drawing on Professor Alexander D. Nikitin’s research in mechanics, applied mathematics, materials science, and numerical simulation, the seminar will discuss how mathematical models and computational algorithms can be used to reproduce the evolution of fatigue damage from early-stage degradation to macroscopic fracture. Special attention will be given to the simulation of fatigue failure in aeronautical materials and structural elements, including high-cycle and very-high-cycle fatigue, multiaxial loading, high-frequency vibration, and service loading conditions relevant to aircraft components. The lecture will introduce the concept of multi-regime fatigue failure modeling based on damage accumulation theory and demonstrate how numerical approaches can support the prediction of crack initiation sites, crack propagation paths, and remaining service life. Selected examples may also cover fatigue behavior of titanium alloys, additively manufactured materials, and structural components operating under complex mechanical environments. By connecting fatigue theory, fracture mechanics, and computational modeling, the seminar aims to show how simulation-based approaches can improve the assessment of structural durability, safety, and reliability in advanced engineering applications.

报告人简介:

Prof. Alexander D. Nikitin is a Professor at Moscow Aviation Institute and a Leading Researcher at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He received his Master’s degree from Moscow State Aviation Technological University and his PhD from Paris University 10 Nanterre La Défense, with specialization in mechanics and civil engineering. He later obtained the Doctor of Science degree in mechanics of deformable solids from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Prof. Nikitin’s research interests include fatigue, materials science, fatigue and fracture of engineering structures, mathematical modeling of fracture processes, and numerical simulation of fatigue crack initiation, growth, and life prediction. He has authored more than 116 scientific papers, one book, and several educational handbooks. He introduced a multi-regime fatigue failure model based on damage accumulation theory and developed original algorithms for fatigue life prediction of materials and structural elements. His simulation results have been applied to the analysis of fatigue failure scenarios in aeronautical structural components. He has also contributed to biomechanical simulations, including the service-life assessment of dental prostheses under chewing loads.
